Time is 1.32am in the morning, and i just came back home from the 5 days Intensive Program in Singapore, Expo. Tired now, but rallying to go for Day 2 of the program.
During the seminar, many people ask me how difference is my Chemistry Coaching different from the mainstream teaching in Secondary Schools by their own MOE (Ministry of Education) teachers.
You know what is my answer?? Totally Different! In fact, i told them that i am NOT a teacher from MOE. And my coaching is different to theirs in the following ways (in points):
1. My coaching method is NEVER one-way (as in Sec Schs), but instead it involves lots lots lots of participation – cos it has been proven to be effective
2. I dont just teach and they listen there. Instead i coach them to find their own answer, own analogies, own examples
3. I coach them how to relate abstract Chemistry Theories to everyday life occurences, by giving lots lots lots of life examples and analogies.
4. I also coach them how to use story-telling in order to allow them to relate better on the chemical equations.
5. I emphasized lots lots lots on throwing away wrong concepts and installing the new, correct concepts in their learning blueprint
6. I also emphasized lots of motivation and personal consultative talks in order to engage them to like me as a person, so that i can communicate my Chemistry Knowledge to them more efficiently and effectively.
7. In 5 days of Intensive Bootcamp (i.e. 40hrs of Intensive Coaching), i managed to complete 70-80% of the current GCE O Level Chemistry Syllabus, in which schools need one and half years to teach the students –> and my method through accelerated learning techniques allow them to retain the knowledge in a longer, funnier and simple ways.
So that is my difference from MOE teachers. For aspiring Coach or Tutors that want to be different from others, i will be starting a “Train The Trainer” Intensive Course for you!! Isn’t it cool! I am a person who likes to share my knowledge, and i promise that you will be blown away with the strategies that i am using at the moment. You will be surprised how Chemistry Coaching can be So Fun, So Fast and So Effective.
Alright, time for me to catch some sleep, and be really focussed in my Day 2 of training.

This post is going to be controversial as many students, tutors, teachers and many parents is not going to accept it initially.
My partner “always Lovely” told me 2 weeks ago that she walked out of her A-Math individual coaching class when she found out that her student did not attempt the homework that was assigned to her. Her student was fabergasted and did not know what to do or say – she was shell-shocked – Never ever a tutor/coach has walked away in that fashion. I believe she was waiting for “Always Lovely” to nag at her abit and then continue with the class, as per normal. Initially, i got a shock also but after hearing from her more, i certainly believe she did the correct thing.
Her response to me was: “It’s never about making it look nice for everyone. This sort of experience will follow through her for life and it may serve her well from today onwards. I don’t feel good having to walk out but someone has to do the job. I’m THE ONE!”
In this case, the mother of the student was actually very supportive of “Always Lovely” and agree of her actions – all for the purpose in mind to “wake” her daughter up. Exam is nearing, and there is no time for her to be wishy-washy anymore.
I have always felt that Coaching of Academic Subjects of Teens/Teenagers is a 3-Way Process:
All 3 parties must come together in a synergistic manner in order for the child to utilize the resources and maximize his potentials.

As mentioned in my earlier posts, I have just completed my 5-days Intensive Train The Trainer program (27th Feb – 2nd March 08) at Singapore Expo, Singapore. It was not as easy as I initially expect it to be. The program is really intensive, with lots of on-the-spot practice and very short breaks in-between. There are also instances that we are asked to go to the stage (in front of 540 people) to practice what we have learned just a few minutes ago. Awesome event!
Being a trainer can be one of the most exciting and fulfilling professions on the planet, but if you’re missing some critical knowledge and skills, it can be a major struggle which is why most people in the training and speaking arena are poor presenters.
I understand that the secret to success in this business is to learn from the masters – people who speak to groups of hundreds or thousands at a time. The only problem is that most trainers in this category would never reveal their innermost secrets to success and the psychology behind every move they make. T. Harv Eker, with his team of master facilitators, will. That is the reason that I signed up for it and it is well-worth the dollars. The Train the Trainer Certification program has increase my confidence in this arena by a thousand-fold.
Here is just a portion of what I have learned:
• Designing a powerful program from A-Z.
• How to control the energy in the room.
• A proven blueprint to communicate yourself effectively as a speaker/trainer.
• How to use “Accelerated Learning” techniques so your participants learn faster and remember more.
• A step-by-step process for getting started and making sure my students will enjoy their class
This program is going to change my life – personally and professionally.
I highly recommend this program to aspiring trainers/coaches who wants to communicate effectively to students alike. For current tutors, trainers and teachers – i believe this program will take your coaching to a new high level.
Here is the Train the Trainer Certification to inspire myself to give the best values of knowledge to my students:
Dear Parents, Students, Tutors, Teachers and avid readers,
Just want to let you know that you will be hearing less from me for the next 2 days as i will be away for a 5-Days Intensive Bootcamp on “Train The Trainer” program organized by Singapore Success Resources and North America PeaK Potentials Inc. In fact, today is already the 3rd day of the event and i must say that the program is AWESOME! I have learnt new ways to engage, motivate the students and find new strategies to help students to better relate the Chemistry Theories to everyday lifes, so that they can learn Chemistry in a “natural” and enjoyable fashion.

Time now is 1.50am and i have only managed to reach my house and change to my sleeping “suit”. This program is really intensive -It starts at 9am in the morning and will end each day at 12.30 am in the wee hours. Physically, i am tired but mentally and emotionally, i am super-charged up. I just can’t wait to learn more in the next 2 days and impart my skills in my coaching program to help students further. It is worth it!

Alright, time for me to go rest as i need to wake up at 6.30am. Please continue to send in your comments on earlier posts, as well as you questions to our email: sean@simplechemconcepts.com. I will reply once i am back from the bootcamp which ends in 2 days time.

Halo Singapore students,
How was your common tests coming along? For those that didn’t do well, this is the time to sit down and reflect what you have done for the last few months? Is your studying methods correct? Is your time management effective enough?
A week ago, a enthusiastic lady called me up to seek indiviudal chemistry coaching and advise for her daughter that has borderline pass in her Secondary 3 (Grade 9) Chemistry examinations, and are preparing for GCE O Level this year. She mentioned a few times that it might be too late for her daughter to catch up on her Sec 3 work and ask me if she do well for her Sec 4 syllabus, will it suffice for her to pass O Levels. Her daughter’s aim is to study Tourism in higher education.
First, i would need to state that to do well for Sec 4 application chapters, you would need to have a strong foundation on (more…)
