Halo,

Have you heard of anyone who said Chemistry are boring subjects? You should not be one of them if you are seeing this post. I certainly disagree with that statement and have been relating to others between Chemistry Theories with Real Life examples and applications in order to convince them – the Chemsitry is so fun. Even with all these being done, i still have people coming to me and tell me that Chemistry is boring since there is no movies orĀ songs that revolves around them.

Question:

Astatine is a Group VII element below Iodine in Periodic Table. Which of the following statements concerning Astatine is correct?

A) It is a liquid at room temp and pressure.
B) It is a stronger oxidizing agent than iodine
C) It reacts with sodium ti form an ionic compound
D) Its diatomic molecules are held together by weak covalent bonds

Question:
Calcium Carbonate decomposes more readily on heating than sodium carbonate. Suggest a reason for this.

CaCO3 –> CaO + CO2
Na2CO3 –> Na2O + CO2
