Recently, i went to watch KNOWING, a science fiction / disaster movie starring Nicholas Cage. I always like to watch movies related to Science (particularly Chemistry) and Geography. I think they are awesome! Back to the movie – Solar flare (from the Sun) eventually strikes Earth and incinerates all life on the planet (except a few of the selected that were rescued by “aliens” and were released back after? earth were reborn.

Back to real life situations – temperature has been rising in almost all countries for the last few years. In Singapore (South-East Asia), we are living in a HOT-and-HUMID environment? 365 days (yes..we only have 1 Season). The rise in temperature are greatly felt. “Is the Solar Flares nearing us???” one of my student asked me in today’s chemistry class. “Not really due to the Solar Flares” i answered (i am glad..cos life is beautiful). But the world is living in danger, due to Global Warming and temperature is rising.
Yesterday, i was at Singapore Botanical Garden with follow Master Trainer for Mathematics, Miss Ai Ling, Ong from singaporeolevelmaths.com for a morning 5km jog (yes, our trainers and coaches are required to exercise and keep our energy HIGH, despite our busy commitments) and had our wonderful breakfast there. It was great until about 11am when the sun starts to shine brightly. It was so HOT! and Warm! that i had to put on my shades and my towel as i was walking out of botanical garden. Gosh! In fact, it was very warm since friday..it was terrible going to bed..sweating as i sleep (my nose can’t “sleep” in air-con environment).
So today’s CHEMISTRY Question will be:
Question 1: What is Global Warming?
Question 2: What causes Global Warming?
Question 3: How can we prevent reduce Global Warming?
PS: Leave your suggested answers below at “Leave A Reply”. I would love to hear from you.

desiree says
Question 1: What is Global Warming?
depletion of the ozone layer, causing the sun ray to be directly shining at us? instead of having a protected barrier aka ozone layer?
Question 2: What causes Global Warming?
carbon dioxide, and other harmful gases such as sulphur dioxide, carbon monoxide.
Question 3: How can we prevent reduce Global Warming?
reduce air con usage, burn less plastic, minimise factory production as it cause harmful gases to be release.. and carpooling? use public transport instead of personal vehicel to save on petrol
