Many of my peers (from secondary schools, Singapore Polytechnic and NUS Applied Chemistry & Chemistry) as well as Scientists, Researchers, Deans/Head of Depts in Universities as well managers/specialists from MNCs always asked me why i chose Chemistry Coaching as a career, since i have so much opportunities and recommendations to join the Research Arenas and Industrial entities in Singapore.
I believed it all boils down to:
- Passion in Chemistry
- Wanting to help others solve problems where they themselves can’t find solutions
- Seeing people happy and feeling motivated
- Helping students to have flexibility to choose what they want as a career in near future
In the O Level Essential Concepts Revision Workshop, the following comments were received from students @ the end of the programmes:
?I have definitely benefitted from this programme and have understood more concepts in Chemistry than before. Although 4 hours is pretty long and tiring, I am satisfied with my achievement at the end of the workshop. Sean has made his lessons really lively and enjoyable for me, and I?ll definitely recommend him to several of my classmates. Thank you. ?
Melissa Lim, Methodist Girl?s School (MGS)
?Flip-charts are very helpful with regards to recall of concepts. The workshop was very effective. Mr Chua was very clear and concise in his explanations of Chemistry Concepts, especially helpful with the Equation Writing & Mole Calculations. Mr Chua has made Chemistry easier to understand with his analogies and more concrete/logical reasoning in chemistry questions. Overall, it was a very conducive and productive use of time.?
Lee Jiayu Sherri, Methodist Girl?s School (MGS)
?This workshop has helped to clear my doubts and misconceptions. It is interesting though tiring (intensive), and has given me a clearer understanding of Chemistry. The workshop is also conducted in a brightly lit environment which makes it easier for learning.?
Hubert Lau, Chung Cheng High (Main)
?It is much clearer and we were able to have a much better understanding for Chemistry. I have also learnt and benefitted a lot from this workshop. Although it is similar to lessons, but I still enjoyed it nevertheless. Thank you so much. You, Sean is also very comical in your actions and speech. Do keep up the good work of teaching / imparting all your Chemistry knowledge (opening the world of chemistry to me?). Thank you once again. God bless!
Elizabeth Ng Ri Hui, Paya Lebar Methodist Girl?s School (PLMGS)
?It seems to be easier to understand. It has helped me to have more confidence when doing Chemistry. If my friends had the opportunity to attend these 4 days of Intensive Classes, they would readily accept.?
Nikhil A Bheeroo, College du St. Espirit, Maurtitius
(International student taking GCE O Level Exams, flown 7hrs to attend the Chemistry Revision Workshop)
?I understood and remember the Chemistry Concepts better after attending this workshop. I think the flipcharts were very very very useful in summarizing what was taught earlier. This workshop has also taught me to manage my time better in exam through the time limit to each question Sean gives. 100% recommended to all of my friends in school especially those weak in Chemistry.?
Poon Chern Yung, Maris Stella High School, Blogging actively HERE
?I think the workshop is very beneficial and effective. The flip-charts were very effective. The coach?s voice is clear and what he teaches I can understand clearly.?
Zikry, Ahmad Ibrahim Secondary School
?I understand Chemistry Concepts better. I would recommend this course to my 3 siblings when they are in Sec 3 and also my juniors who find chemistry difficult to understand. This course was very beneficial to me. I feel that the Quick Check Questions were very useful as they helped me to recap on what was just taught. I also found the flip-charts beneficial.?
Stephanie Khoo, Singapore Chinese Girl?s School (SCGS)
?Through the 4 days of revising the Chemistry Concepts, I have finally grasped all the important chemical formulas that I am usually weak at. This workshop had been effective as Sean has covered all the killer topics in o-level chemistry exams, and made it easier to attempt the questions by different approach. Overall, I had enjoyed this workshop.?
Nurul Arinie, Regent Secondary School
?It was very good, and the air-con helped us to stay awake, and the PRE & POST Tests helped us to be alert. The loud voice (Sean?s) helped us to focus, and the boards were used very effectively. It was good. The only bad point was ?lack of time? =). The flip-charts were pretty helpful to help us have a brief recap. All the Time Limits helped to train us to be fast & accurate in exams. It?s good that our parents were contacted because it shows us the thoughtfulness.
Ng Ying Qi, Paya Lebar Methodist Girl?s School (PLMGS)
?This programme has helped me revise my chemistry concepts and has help me to understand the concepts in which I didn?t before. This workshop has helped me to strengthen my foundation in Chemistry.?
Audrey Ong, Singapore Chinese Girl?s School (SCGS)
?It was enjoyable and beneficial at the same time I have learnt Mole Concepts and understand Chemistry better.?
Melody Liu, Fairfield Methodist School (Secondary)
?This workshop is really, really AWESOME!! The first day I went to this workshop, I thought ?jia lat?. Sure Die. I thought won?t know anything. But I was wrong! Sean went through from the very basic stuff he promised. It really helped me clarify my doubts and I found out stuff that I didn?t know. I tell you Sean, you just carry on what you are doing. You are damn good at it! I am sure you have been as inspiring as your chemistry teacher in your secondary school days. Jia You! =)?
Shaun Siong Zhi Sheng, Evergreen Secondary School
?I understand some of the chapters more than when I was in school. I feel like I can remember more now. This programme gets me ready when school reopens. =)?
Brandon Eng, ACS (International)
I am simply motivated each time when i see the positive comments from the students and parents, at the completion of the workshop and/or bootcamps.
And in this workshop, i am very happy that my coaching has not only touched the lifes of students in Singapore, but also International students. Besides those international students that have purchased my “Up Your Chemistry Grades Now!” book, i have the honour to coach Nikhil from College du St. Espirit, who flown in 7hrs from Mauritius to attend our workshop.
And i learned something new each time. This time, i learned that in Mauritius, students are also taking the GCE O Level Syllabus, which is similar to those from Singapore.
Check out this encouraging words from the Ram, father of Nikhil that flown 7hrs from Mauritius and attended our Chemistry Revision Workshop, as part of his holiday plans.
“Hi Sean,
We are back in Mauritius after a successful business/holiday trip to Singapore. I wish to thank you for putting Nikhil back on track with regards to Chemistry–he is working constantly on the chemistry chapters you taught and practicing a lot on calculations.
He attempted succesfully the number which you explained to him the last day. We look forward to have your continued support over e-mails and meet probably by April 2009.
Thank you once again for your excellent teaching methodology and all the best.
Best regards
Ram”
