Unreasonable during the June Intensive Bootcamp?

download.png
This will be an interesting blogpost. I was asked recently by a parent if my Intensive Bootcamp was being unreasonable at some point of “intensiveness” after she heard what the group of students (aka the ChemKidz) went through the bootcamp with me.

To put thing into perspective, the Intensive Bootcamp during the last week of June holiday was indeed “Intensive”. You want to know what we did there?? We have covered the Essential Basic Chemistry Concepts and Application Topics in 40hrs. To be more precise, in a short 40hrs (equal to 5 days from 9am – 5pm), we have covered 80% of the GCE O Level Curriculum that schools uses to teach in 1 1/2 years on a full time basis.

In order to learn so much in such a short time, we definitely need to be very Focus and Discipline. This is what we call?Accelerated Learning TechniquesTM in the arena of education. Of course there are other?secrets in such?a methodology but only people that have gone through such training will understand the usefulness and power of it. Perhaps, many of my ChemKidz students have already observed and felt the power of it.

During the bootcamp, for 80% of the time, we had our Buffet Lunchbreak cut-short to 50mins and tea-breaks cut-short to 5mins. Is that outrageous and unreasonable? especially?for parents? haha..?Maybe they should check with my?ChemKidz ?! There were consensus from all of them that we need to focus and do what we need to do. We just let them make their hot coffee/tea/milo and bring back to their seats with their muffins to enjoy while i continue to seed them into more brainstorming exercises.

Yes. My Intensive Bootcamp is Outrageous! Ok, it might be unreasonable to some parents..who say they need lots of rest..Rest???? I say there should be rest, be it should come only after the students have benefited from the Focus session. Think we did lots of funny things during the camp also..Right ChemKidz?? Rmbr those “Follow The Leader” and “11 Claps” rituals?

Hear what some ChemKidz says about the Intensive Bootcamp:

“how i wish sch environment was like the one at the hotel during our Intensive Bootcamp”

“:) hope that there would be a continuous program for the group of us (ChemKidz) to prepare until the O’s”

“my classmates think im smart..im not rly accustomed to going back to school…in fact i even missed the bootcamp…”

“Bootcamp was Intensive!!…but it actually made me happy in a sense…cos it was actually fun and i could actually absorb so much….cheers to fun learning……i like ur style n the btcamp”

“i find it quite useful uh. cos now in class, i actually paid quite much attention in chemistry class. cos u know, last time, every single time i step into the chem lab, i start to yawn. hahaha”
