the answer is D b/c it is an addition rxn of Alkene not a Substitution rxn
and addition rxn normaly does not require uv light and it can not be an alkane
b/c it will not satisfy the alkane formula

Heya. I would like to try this qn.

A is out as the reaction is more likely to be an addition reaction since only one product is formed. Thus, not a substitution rxn.

B is out as explained in A

C is out as the hydrocarbon cannot be an alkane as it doesnt undergo addition rxn

My answer would be D. An alkene
