    for b) since catalyst is used, sometimes we call it Catalytic Cracking.

    a) C20H42(silicon oxide or aluminium oxide catalyst under high temperatures and pressure) -> 6C2H4 + C8H18

    b) Cracking

    c) Add a few drops of bromine to the reaction mixture in a dark room. If ethene an alkene is present, the reddish-brown colour of bromine decolourises till it is colourless.
